Militarysculpture.co.uk the online military and aviation art gallery for aviation artist Peter CloseAbout UsPeter Close was educated at Chilton Cantelo House School and has been a professional sculptor for the past twenty five years. He lives and works near the Somerset village of Long Sutton with his wife Melanie and an assortment of animals. During his career Peter has created sculptures for Greenpeace and The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and in 1994 his life-size steel sculpture "Integral" was selected for the prestigious Royal West of England's first open sculpture exhibition. This website focuses on Peter's series of bronze aviation figures and bronze Military and aviation portrait busts mainly from World War II. The task of achieving a high level of authentic detail has been made possible by the invaluable assistance of Geoff Pringle of www.oldnautibits.com who provides clothing and equipment so the sculptures can actually be modeled from real life as opposed to old photographs. needless to say, a huge bonus for any artist! All the sculptures are cast from the highest quality cold-cast bronze in Peter's own workshop in Somerset. each bronze sculpture is engraved with its limited edition number and the artists signature. A signed limited edition certificate is also included. To see more of Peter's work including his beautiful life-size cat sculptures and Legends of Motorsport bronze busts please see our sister website ww.PeterClose.com
