Sir Winston Churchill British Prime Minster. A brilliant orator his speeches were an inspiration to the British people and the Allied forces. Churchill was an officer in the British Army a historian and writer receiving the Nobel prize for literature. He saw military action in India and the Sudan. During the First World War he served on the Western Front.

Over the years he held many positions including Secretary of State for War and Chancellor of the Exchequer. In May 1940 he became Prime Minster following the resignation of Neville Chamberlain. Churchill was noted for his speeches and in the dark days of 1940 and 1941 they became a source of strength to not only his country but the rest of the free world as we fought against Germany.
